Standard Class Tickets
The ticket you buy will be Standard Class, unless you say otherwise. Where First Class is available, it is clearly designated on all services. The usual Railcard Discounts can be applied to all Standard Class tickets except Season Tickets.

Please note that the following tickets can be purchased at any time, however we do advise that you book ahead to get a seat reservation where possible. Tickets are fully refundable less the appropriate administration fee. For further information please enquire when buying your ticket.
Standard Open Return
This ticket offers you full flexibility and can be used on any train within one calendar month of the “valid from” date on the outward portion of your ticket on both the outward and return journeys. The ticket is valid for travel on all train operators’ services via the route specified on the ticket. It is also possible to break your journey on the outward or return journey.
Standard Day Return
This ticket offers you full flexibility and can be used on any train on the date specified on the outward portion of ticket on both the outward and return journeys. The ticket is valid for travel on all train operators’ services via the route specified on the ticket.
Standard Day Single/Standard Open Single
This ticket offers you full flexibility and can be used on any train on the valid from date specified on the ticket. It is valid for travel on all train operators’ services via the route specified on the ticket.
Saver Return 1
This ticket can be used only on off peak services of all train operators, via the route specified on the ticket. However, the outward portion can be used on the date specified on the ticket and no break of journey is allowed except when changing trains. The return portion can be used on any off peak service within one calendar month and it is possible to have a break in your journey.
Cheap Day Return/Single 1
This ticket can be used only on off peak services of all train operators. The ticket can only be used on the date specified on the ticket, and a break of journey is permitted.

Purchase in Advance:
Value Advance Standard A/B/C
(Valid for travel up to and including 17 May 2008)
These are the cheapest tickets you can buy and are generally only available on quieter services. The tickets are subject to availability at all times, and can only be used on the service(s) specified on the ticket or accompanying reservation confirmation. Please note that these tickets are not refundable, however changes are permitted to a later service than originally booked - subject to an administration fee plus any difference in fare between the fare paid and the cheapest available fare.
Advance Standard 1/2/3/4/5
(Valid for travel on or after 18 May 2008)
These tickets will replace our Value Advance Standard A/B/C tickets and will be available for travel on or after 18 May 2008.
These will be the cheapest tickets you can buy and will generally only available on quieter services. The tickets are subject to availability at all times, and can only be used on the service(s) specified on the ticket or accompanying reservation confirmation. Please note that these tickets are not refundable, however changes are permitted to a later service than originally booked - subject to an administration fee plus any difference in fare between the fare paid and the cheapest available fare.
Advance Standard A/B/C
Advance tickets are sold subject to availability at all times and can only be used on the service(s) specified on the ticket or accompanying reservation confirmation. Please note that these tickets are refundable less an administration fee if the refund is requested before the booking deadline. After the booking deadline a 50% refund, less administration fee will apply. Changes are permitted to a later service than originally booked - subject to an administration fee plus any difference in fare between the fare paid and the cheapest available fare.
Former Central Value Single Fares – 1 Day, 3 Day and 7 Day
These fares are available on former Central Trains routes and have to be purchased 1 Day in advance of travel for the 1 Day fare; 3 days in advance for the 3 day fare; and 7 days in advance for the 7 day fare. These tickets are subject to availability at all times. The tickets are refundable, if the ticket is unused and is submitted within 28 days of expiry a full refund will be given less the relevant administration fee. If the ticket has been partially used, there will be a charge for the cost of the portion of the journey that has been made, as well as an additional administrative fee. And if your plans change, don’t worry, it’s possible to change your ticket to an alternative date and time - but a charge will apply.
Please note that the following tickets have to be purchased at least one day before travel and are offered subject to availability. Refund restrictions apply to these tickets and the tickets are only valid for travel on the date and time specified on the ticket.
