trendy restaurant or indulge in a spot of shopping, Sheffield has
something for you. Here are some suggestions of great things to do
in the city.
Sheffield's Winter Garden provides a stunning green world in the
centre of the city. Housed in one of the largest glasshouses to be
built in the UK during the last hundred years, the Garden is a
pedestrian route with a difference. Marvel at the 2500 plants from
around the world as you wander through the impressive structure,
which is 70 metres long and 22 metres high - big enough to house
5000 average household greenhouses. The Garden is also home to the
Bessemer Gallery and Café Azure, where you can stop for coffee and
light refreshments. Entry is free and Sheffield's Winter Garden is
only a ten minute walk from Sheffield train station.
The Millennium Gallery offers the very best in art, craft and
design in the heart of Sheffield. There are fascinating exhibitions
to explore and fun art classes where you can try your hand at
creating some art for yourself and there's also a shop where you
can buy a souvenir of your visit. Located next to the Winter
Garden, the Gallery is easily accessible and there's also free

Discover the story of Sheffield in one award-winning museum,
from its geological roots to the people, politics and music that
make up the modern city. Permanent exhibitions include 'Arctic
World' and 'What on Earth?' - an interactive introduction to the
natural world. Kids will love the fun activities that have been
especially designed for little explorers, such as art workshops and
dancing sessions. Located in the city centre, the family-friendly
museum is easy to get to using public transport. Again, entry is
free and it's a short bus ride from Sheffield train station.
Continuing the trend of free places to visit, the Cathedral
Church of St Marie is a fascinating place to visit in Sheffield.
Despite being in the bustling city centre, it's a quiet, peaceful
and undeniably beautiful place. The large east window is
magnificent, as are the statues and stonework decorations which pay
tribute to the Victorian builders who made them in 1850. Stop at
the Cathedral for a well-earned break to get away from it all, and
to wonder at the history all around you. The cathedral is a ten
minute walk from Sheffield train station.
If you're looking for some action to get your adrenaline going,
then Aerial Extreme is the place for you. Whether young or old,
