CrossCountry 'appy with iPhone download success

Thursday 18 February 2010

With almost 70,000 downloads in the four months since its launch, CrossCountry's 'Train Search' application ('app') for the Apple iPhone is proving to be one of the most popular rail travel apps within the UK.

The popular and free real time app, which has seen almost 24,000 downloads in January alone, provides users with instant access to live train times for any UK rail journey, timetables and the innovative 'current position' feature which identifies their nearest station. Users can also store and save their regular or favourite rail routes.

iPhone users across the UK have widely praised the CrossCountry app with comments such as: "Works great, and saves me loads of time" ; "So easy to use and convenient and it's FREE" ; "how an app should be. Saves time, effort and money" and "Bravo cross country trains, great job."

CrossCountry's Managing Director, Andy Cooper said: "Our aim is to make train information available to as many people as possible - especially those on the move. Our free iPhone app does just that and we are pleased to see how popular it has become in a very short space of time. Using technology to improve customers' travel experiences is a priority for us and the iPhone app not only achieves that, but makes using and understanding the UK rail network so much easier."

The CrossCountry 'Train Search' iPhone app is free and available to download now via apple.com/iphone/apps-for-iphone.
