Arriva North East and Arriva group train operator CrossCountry, have teamed up to offer combined bus and rail tickets to a number of locations served by Arriva buses in North Northumberland via Berwick-upon-Tweed railway station.

The new ‘Belford Bus’ and ‘Seahouses Bus’ tickets allow passengers to make their rail and bus journeys with just one ticket. The idea to introduce these tickets was developed in response to customers asking for simpler ticketing to help their journeys.

Customers can purchase tickets for both the rail and bus parts of their journey from ticket offices or through online booking websites, including the CrossCountry website. When buying tickets online, customers simply select 'Belford Bus' or 'Seahouses Bus' as their origin or destination.

Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East said “We are delighted to be working with our fellow Arriva Business, CrossCountry to offer our customers a simpler, more streamlined way to travel. Whether customers are going to Berwick- upon-Tweed, Belford, Seahouses or anywhere in between - we have a ticket for them!

We hope the greater ease of travelling will encourage more people to make the journey to the scenic North Northumberland Coast with Arriva North East and CrossCountry.”

Ben Simkin, Commercial Director for CrossCountry said “We are very pleased to be working with Arriva Bus to provide combined rail and bus tickets to Seahouses and Belford. This will provide CrossCountry customers with a seamless link to these locations, with a quick and convenient bus connection at Berwick-upon-Tweed station.

These tickets include our best value Advance tickets as well as our more flexible Off-Peak and Anytime tickets.”

Arriva’s X15 and X18 services visit some of the most scenic locations in Northumberland. Running along the coastline from Newcastle to Berwick, customers can visit destinations such as Alnwick, Amble, Craster, Bamburgh, Seahouses and Belford.
