Things to do at Cadbury World

Cadbury World has all kinds of chocolatey fun in store for visitors. A standard ticket will get you a self-guided tour with access to all outside attractions, including:

  • The 4D Chocolate Adventure, which gives kids the chance to meet iconic Cadbury characters, like Freddo, and journey into a 4D cinematic experience. Participants can ride the Crunchie rollercoaster, fly a Crème Egg rocket, or dive into a bowl of liquid Dairy Milk and it’ll all feel real with motion seats.
  • The Have a Go Zone, which encourages visitors to get creative, and a little messy, with chocolate. Families can practise their piping skills and learn how to temper chocolate from a team of Cadbury experts.
  • The Cadbury Chocolate Quest, which is one of Cadbury World’s newest attractions and tasks kids with joining Freddo and his button monkeys to zap up the ingredients to make a Cadburys chocolate bar. It’s an immersive experience which will be sure to thrill the little ones.

There’s also lots of delicious food, other than chocolate, available. Purchase a ticket for the Character Afternoon Tea and get everything that comes with a standard ticket plus a trip to the Cadbury World Café conservatory. Here you’ll be treated to a selection of savoury and sweet treats and the chance to dine with Freddo, the Caramel Bunny, and Mr Cadburys Parrot.

Cadbury World is committed to enabling everyone, regardless of any additional needs and accessibility requirements, to enjoy the experience. As a result, the attraction is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps, elevators, and accessible bathrooms throughout the premises. There are also wheelchairs available to hire on the day, on a first come first served basis. It’s important to know, however, that Cadbury World can only accommodate one wheelchair per timeslot (every ten minutes), so be sure to book a Wheelchair Slot.

Additionally, assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site and the attractions and displays are kitted out with braille and tactile maps. Induction loops are also available at key areas, like the ticket office, and BSL interpreters are available for certain shows.

About Cadbury World

Opened in 1990, Cadbury World is an interactive experience aimed at showing kids the history and production of chocolate and, more importantly, the joys of it. The centre also emphasises the company’s heritage and commitment to ethical sourcing and community building. The company was a pioneer in promoting fair trade practises and, in 2009, Dairy Milk became Fairtrade certified. This certification ensures that cocoa farmers receive fair prices and that their communities benefit from investment in education and healthcare.

Cadbury itself was founded in 1824 by John Cadbury, who opened a grocery store in Birmingham selling cocoa and hot chocolate. The products were originally aimed at wealthy customers, but, unsurprisingly, they quickly became popular with everyone else too. In 1847, Cadbury introduced its first chocolate bar, and eventually, John’s sons, Richard and George Cadbury, took over the business and expanded it significantly.

Since then, Cadbury has been at the forefront of many chocolatey innovations. In 1905, Cadbury Dairy Milk was launched. A chocolate bar with such a high milk content hadn’t been seen on the market before. This product quickly became a favourite across the UK and remains one of Cadbury's most iconic products to this day.

Here are five quick-fire facts about Cadbury and Cadbury World:

  • The village of Bournville was actually created by the Cadbury Family so their workers would be able to live close to the factory.
  • Cadbury World holds the record for the largest Cadbury shop in the world.
  • Cadbury products are sold in over fifty countries, making it one of the most recognised chocolate brands worldwide.
  • Cadbury created the first filled chocolate bar in 1914 – the Dairy Milk Whole Nut.
  • During World War II, Cadbury provided chocolate rations to lift the spirits of British soldiers during wartime.
