    Industrial action to affect CrossCountry services on Sunday 25 August

    Description

    The RMT union have announced that they intend to carry out industrial action on Sunday 25 August. CrossCountry will be running a significantly reduced service on many routes.

    Customers looking to travel between Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland are strongly advised to avoid travelling on Sunday. This is because of the very limited level of service available on the East Coast Main Line that day.

    Seat reservations have been suspended for Sunday 25 August.

    Alternative travel information:
    If you have purchased a ticket for Sunday 25 August marked 'XC ONLY', 'CROSS CNTRY ONLY' or 'ANY PERMITTED' and your journey is entirely with CrossCountry this will be valid to travel on an alternative CrossCountry service on Friday 23 August, Saturday 24 August, Monday 26 August and Tuesday 27 August.

    Customers may also use their tickets with the following operators via any reasonable route on Sunday 25 August:

    • Chiltern Railways
    • London Northwestern Railway
    • Northern
    • ScotRail
    • West Midlands Railway

     

    If you no longer wish to travel, you should contact your original ticket retailer to organise a refund.

    Amended early morning service between Plymouth and Exeter St Davids from Tuesday 20 until Friday 23 August

    Routes affected

    CrossCountry between Plymouth and Edinburgh

    Great Western Railway between Newton Abbot and Paignton, and also between Plymouth and London Paddington

    Description

    Engineering work is taking place between Totnes and Newton Abbot, closing some lines overnight.

    CrossCountry

    Each morning, the 05:20 Plymouth to Edinburgh service will run up to 10 minutes later than usual to Exeter St Davids.

    Great Western Railway

    The following trains will be retimed:

    • 07:06 Newton Abbot to Paignton service will depart at the later time 07:18
    • 04:50 Plymouth to London Paddington service will depart Newton Abbot a few minutes later than usual
    • 05:29 Plymouth to London Paddington service will run up to 5 minutes later than usual to stations to Westbury
    • 05:53 Plymouth to London Paddington service will depart at the earlier time 05:41. The train will run to normal train times from Newton Abbot
