As part of ongoing work to build HS2 – Britain’s new high speed railway – work is taking place to realign the railway in the Duddeston area of Birmingham. The new track layout will make way for the construction of a new viaduct which will carry HS2 services over the existing railway and into a new station at Curzon Street in Birmingham city centre in future.  

Network Rail will be carry out major track improvements this summer which will affect services on the routes between: 

  • Birmingham New Street to Leicester, Peterborough, Cambridge and Stansted Airport
  • Cardiff Central and Nottingham
  • Scotland and the North East to the South West

The work will be taking place on the following dates: 

  • Saturday 10Sunday 11 August
  • Saturday 17Monday 26 August
  • Saturday 31 AugustSunday 1 September

Timetable Summary

Birmingham New Street – Leicester and stations to Peterborough, Cambridge and Stansted Airport

Rail replacement road transport will operate between:

  • Coleshill Parkway, Water Orton and Birmingham New Street  

Cardiff Central – Nottingham

Trains will operate between Coleshill Parkway - Nottingham & Birmingham New Street – Cardiff Central. Rail replacement road transport will operate between:

  • Coleshill Parkway and Birmingham New Street

Scotland, the North East - The South West

Trains will not call at Tamworth. Journey times will be extended by one hour.

Road Transport:

Replacement road transport will depart from the front of the following stations:

  • Birmingham New Street – Smallbrook Queensway outside TK Maxx
  • Coleshill Parkway
  • Water Orton

During this time Coleshill Parkway station car park will be closed.
