Things to do in Stansted
You might think Stansted only has the airport to offer, but there is a lot more to see and do around Stansted than the airport alone. Hatfield Forest is part of the National Trust Estate and is only a few minutes south of the station. This ancient royal hunting ground is the ideal place for country walks amongst trees up to 1,200 years old.
English villages surround Stansted, with Takeley and Stansted Mountfitchet almost next door. In Stansted Mountfitchet, you can see Mountfitchet Castle and what is claimed to be the biggest toy museum in the world. Bishop’s Stortford is the largest nearby town and has Roman roots. Bishop’s Stortford was voted the best place to live in the UK by a Halifax survey in 2020. Here you can shop, dine and enjoy the local nightlife and other entertainment facilities until it’s time to take the train home. Stansted Mountfitchet and Bishop’s Stortford are both easily accessible by train from Stansted Airport.
CrossCountry provides Stansted Airport with regular services, so whether you are here to explore the local area, or jump on a flight for a well-earned holiday break, you can find the right ticket for you with CrossCountry today.
