Great Tapestry Coming to Scotland! Community rail in Scotland is in stitches as Galashiels prepares for the arrival of the Great Tapestry of Scotland this summer.
Borders Community Rail Partnership are preparing a grand welcome at Galashiels station by producing their own tapestry panel to celebrate the arrival of the Great Tapestry of Scotland. Funded by CrossCountry’s community engagement fund, the 1.5metres high panel will be placed prominently at the station and feature work by world-renowned artist Andrew Crummy. The panel will celebrate the Borders Railway and offer support towards the main tapestry.
People from across the community will work together to add their own stitch to be part of the historic event. The final design is yet to be confirmed, but Borders CRP aim to get as many people as possible involved in a bid to create a long-lasting connection between the railway and the community.
