Borders Railway Community Partnership have been rubbing shoulders with royalty when Her Majesty Queen Camilla made her mark by stitching into the Great Tapestry panel.

On a recent visit to Galashiels, Queen Camilla was invited to take part by adding a few stitches to the community panel, to mark her visit and official approval of Galashiels as the home to the Great Tapestry of Scotland.

The Borders CRP Great Tapestry panel, funded by CrossCountry, will eventually take pride of place in the Transport Interchange in Galashiels to represent the gateway to the tapestry displays across the town. The piece denotes the stations along the route of the railway and local tourist attractions.

Work on the panel will continue over the coming months with chief stitcher, Susie Finlayson, visiting schools and community events to complete the pattern.

Pictured is Stakeholder Liaison Manager, Alex Bray, adding a few of his own stitches into the Great Tapestry panel.
