In April David Jones, Stakeholder Manager, East Midlands & East Anglia, visited Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s (EVR) commercial team at Wirksworth station to discuss our involvement with the ‘Class 14’s @ 60’ celebration event to be held at the Derbyshire heritage railway in July.

CrossCountry is delighted to be able to arrange some corporate sponsorship to support the event as part of our commitment to help promote Heritage Railways in the communities we directly serve or link with. The special four-day event to celebrate 60 years of the quirky Class 14 diesel hydraulic locomotives – affectionately known as ‘Teddy Bears’ – will see the largest gathering of the locomotives for many years and promises to be extremely popular with rail enthusiasts from across the country.

Commenting about the event, David said: “We hope that many visitors will choose to leave the car at home and travel with CrossCountry to Derby to connect with the convenient EMR hourly service to Duffield where there is a footbridge link across to the adjacent EVR station”.
