To encourage active travel for visiting local attractions and places of interest, Hereward Community Rail Partnership has produced some highly detailed and informative Walking and Cycling Maps with a contribution from CrossCountry’s Community Engagement Fund. There are two versions: Peterborough City and Peterborough, Stamford & surrounding area, and printed copies can be picked up at Peterborough rail station by people visiting the area by train. Alternatively, copies can be downloaded from the Hereward Community Rail Partnership website at www.herewardcrp.org.
As well as containing easy to follow maps which clearly show accessible routes, there’s lots of information about some of the best local attractions and places of interest to visit within the city centre and further afield. If you’re feeling really adventurous you can take a CrossCountry train to historic Stamford and then walk or cycle along the 16 miles scenic Hereward Way all the way to Peterborough, visiting the Nene Valley Heritage Railway along the route, before heading home with CrossCountry from Peterborough rail station!
