Stations along the Settle Carlisle line are celebrating their growing success in both the Yorkshire and Cumbria in Bloom awards.
Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company’s Operations Manager Susie Payne and Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line member Anne Payne received four certificates for the It’s Your Neighbourhood entries and the Chairmans’s Special Award for Appleby Station’s Appleby Art Project, with Appleby Primary School led by local artist Karen Babayan.
Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Settle stations also received It’s Your Neighbourhood advancing and thriving certificates from Yorkshire in Bloom last month.
Susie Payne said: “We are grateful to all the volunteers who make our stations look so beautiful. Many people travel on our line to enjoy the scenery and love our original station buildings.
“We are also grateful to CrossCountry Community Engagement Fund for their grant support to provide new plants and planters for our stations.”
The Settle Carlisle line has been named the top scenic railway journey in Europe by travel publisher Lonely Planet.
