Artwork under the bridge at Mauldeth Road station, in South Manchester, funded by CrossCountry, has been officially launched by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carmine Grimshaw.
The artwork is a celebration of local wildlife including flora and fauna from the parks in Ladybarn. This is an extension to the work already done in and around the station including planting and contributes to a more attractive environment for rail-users and the local community to enjoy.
The Lord Mayor was joined by the artist Caroline Coates, the two MPs and the three councillors for Withington Ward as he declared the artwork to be officially open.
In his brief address the Lord Mayor commended the project as an example of achievement through partnership working.
Train operator CrossCountry and the Crewe to Manchester Community Rail Partnership who funded the work were represented at the event as were The Sign Bridge, installers of the artwork panels.
The gathering was hosted by Friends of Mauldeth Road Station who had commissioned the artwork.
