In October, teams from CrossCountry joined the Newcastle Rail Academy to host a series of events to give students a behind the scenes view of how Britain’s railway works.
Every year the academy opens its doors to railway experts during their ‘Industry Week’ to provide students with a greater understanding of how different parts of the railway operate. Andy Page, Matthew Thomas, Rosie Walters, Leo Morton, Matthew Worsley, Craig Waggott and Alex Bray gave talks on different subjects covering Train Planning, Pricing and Revenue, working as a Train Manager and how to pursue a career in the rail industry.
Industry Week is one of the biggest events of the year for the academy. The week-long programme also featured a programme of activities from the North East health and Wellbeing Centre, Network Rail, Community Rail and several technology specialists.
Alex Bray, Stakeholder Liaison Manger North East Scotland, commented “It’s our third year hosting sessions at the academy’s rail Industry Week and you can really see how inspired the students are to learn about the railway, and the many opportunities a career in rail can offer.”
