6VT Community Rail Partnership provided a warm welcome to young people from Ukraine with a special 'Try the Train' experience to the National Railway Museum.
Through a relationship with Barnardo's, 6VT CRP found out that many young Ukrainians who have fled the war have never experienced a train ride or have had a negative experience due to how they left their homes. To offer a warm welcome to young people in Edinburgh the partnership organised a buddying trip to the NRM to build relationships and introduce them to rail.
Following a train journey that involved quizzes and games, the day at the National Railway Museum saw the group experience the latest attraction Wonderlab, the Shikansen Bullet Train and the Flying Scotsman virtual reality experience.
Dubbed 'Try the Train', 6VT plan to organise more trips to continue to build the relationship with young Ukrainians in Scotland.
