Rail 74 Community Rail Partnership and LEAP(Leadership, Equality and Active Participation) Enterprise Scotland have teamed up to transform railway waste land into a community hub to support climate change.

Funded by CrossCountry, Rail 74, who are based along the Rutherglen and Hamilton Central line, are working with the LEAP to build a poly tunnel and large community garden to support the community and station adopters. Once built, they will be welcoming everyone to take part and share a ‘you can do’ message to support climate change and encourage others to use the gardens.

Plans for the garden include accessible ramps, pathways from street level, polytunnel, wildlife area, orchard, raised beds and an outdoor seating area for relaxation, reflection and outdoor learning.

Stage one has commenced which includes clearing the area, ready for the poly tunnel, in collaboration with local growing group grow73.
