CrossCountry helped fund an art project at Northwich station, in Cheshire, which launched on Friday 18th October.
The event brought together 25 primary schools from across the town who designed 30 panels which are now on display at various areas around the station.
The theme of the project was ‘a sense of place’. All the designs depict scenes from the local area which have a special meaning for the children involved. The purpose of the project was to improve the appearance of the station as well as attract visitors to the admired and hidden gems around the town.
A grand unveiling ceremony was attended by Mid Cheshire MP, Andrew Cooper, Northwich town Mayor, Cllr Cernik, and representatives from the many organisations who helped make the project such a success.
The project had strong support from the dedicated local volunteer group, by students and teachers from the local schools, Friends of Northwich Station, Northwich Town Council, CrossCountry, Northern, Network Rail, ISS, and Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership (MCCRP).
MCCRP was set up in 2003 to promote the use of the Mid Cheshire Railway Line, which Northwich station serves. They also help develop and improve the facilities along the route working with local communities.
