We were delighted to sponsor the production of a set of informative and eye-catching history panels for our community partners at Wingfield 1947 Station charity, when they told us they were attending the Railway 200 Greatest Gathering in Derby. The set of 10 professionally produced panels generated lots of interest from the thousands of visitors who attended the Greatest Gathering on 01-03 August and they are now on permanent display at the beautifully restored, historic Wingfield station.

Wingfield Station is open to the public as a heritage centre, tea-room, local community amenity, event space and is also available for private and business hire.
Entirely run by volunteers, the Grade 2-Star listed station has been fully restored to its original May 1840 condition. It is the last surviving station building of the North Midland Railway from Derby to Leeds. The station is also the finest surviving work of its architect Francis Edward Thompson and is the World’s oldest completely original railway station building.

Whilst the last train called at Wingfield station in 1967, visitors can enjoy refreshments whilst sat at tables on the remaining section of the southbound platform and watch CrossCountry and EMR trains speed past on the main line between Derby and Chesterfield.
