Many of us are travelling to the office a lot less regularly than we used to, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to access the discounts of a season ticket for when we do. Flexi Season Tickets are designed for affordability when commuting flexibly.

What is a Flexi Season Ticket?

A Flexi Season Ticket includes 8 days of travel within a 28-day period. This means that you can travel at any time between two named stations, on 8 occasions throughout the 28-day period. The days of travel don't need to be specified in advance, giving part-time commuters more flexibility to travel when they want and need.

The Flexi Season Ticket is different from other kinds of Season Ticket by allowing you to travel flexibly between two named stations. However, a Flexi Season Ticket does not allow for unlimited travel like full Season Tickets do.

How much does a Flexi Season Ticket cost?

The cost of a Flexi Season Ticket depends on the journey you will be using it for, but the cost is priced in between an Anytime Day Return and a Monthly Season Ticket. This mid-range pricing is why it serves as a great alternative for those commuting less regularly.

If you're overspending on Anytime Day Return tickets or not making the most of your Monthly Season Ticket, a Flexi Season Ticket could be a better compromise.

How much can I save with a Flexi Season Ticket?

Comparing a Flexi Season Ticket with the equivalent Monthly Season Ticket, the minimum discount is 20%. For those who travel less than five days a week, you can make savings by using a Flexi Season Ticket instead. Explore more on our Season Tickets purchase page.

Can you get a refund on a Flexi Season Ticket?

Refunds are calculated as the difference between the price you paid for your Flexi Season Ticket and the cost of an Anytime Return ticket for each day you have used. Refunds are also liable to an administration fee of £5.

If you only have one or two journeys remaining on your Flexi Season Ticket, you may find that no refund is available.

Can you apply for Delay Repay on a Flexi Season Ticket?

Eligible customers can apply for Delay Repay when faced with disruption to their journey. If a Flexi Season Ticket customer activates a day's worth of travel and chooses not to travel last minute in the event of train delays, they should apply for Delay Repay.

Can you use a Railcard discount on a Flexi Season Ticket?

Only certain Railcards can be applied to Flexi Season Tickets to access a discount. You can use 16-17 Saver Railcards and Job Centre Plus Travel Discount Cards to enjoy 50% off your Flexi Season Ticket.

Can you exchange a Flexi Season Ticket for a Season Ticket?

You cannot exchange a Flexi Season Ticket if you have already partially used the ticket. We recommend that you use your eight journeys before purchasing a regular Season Ticket. Alternatively, you can request a refund, but an administration fee will apply.

How to Use a Flexi Season Ticket

As routines and plans change, you don't need to select days of travel in advance. You can activate your Flexi Season Ticket on each day you'd like to travel, taking a matter of moments.

Once you have purchased your Flexi Season Ticket, simply activate your day pass in the 'My Tickets' section of the CrossCountry app. On that day, you can enjoy unlimited travel between your designated stations for that day.
