Network Rail engineers will be carrying out major improvements to the concrete roof above Birmingham New Street station’s 12 platforms.

As part of a £7.5m investment, engineers will carry out repairs to the original 1960s concrete deck which supports the station concourse above the platforms to keep trains running safely and reliably for decades to come.

Network Rail and all affected Train Operators are working to deliver the work so most trains can continue to run as normal during the eight-month project.

So that work can take place safely, platforms will be closed in pairs for four weeks at a time. This will mean some changes to train times and services arriving and departing from different platforms than usual.

The first platforms to close will be Platforms 5 and 6 from Sunday 2 April to Sunday 30 April.
