Whether you are having a meal with the family, having a night out with your friends or going on an Easter egg hunt with your kids, Easter can be a very busy period for us all. The information below is all you need to ensure you travel with ease on our trains over the Easter period.

Friday 19 to Sunday 21 April

Coventry

Trains will divert not to call at Coventry and Birmingham International. Journey times will remain unaffected. Rail replacement road transport will operate between Leamington Spa, Coventry and Birmingham International.

 

 

Friday 19 to Monday 22 April

Newport

Rail replacement road transport will operate between Chepstow, Caldicot, Lydney. Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport. The 0520 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central will not run on Friday or Monday Rail replacement road transport will operate from Bristol Temple Meads 0520, Bristol Parkway 0540 to Newport 0618 (arr).

 

 

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April

Motherwell

Rail replacement road transport will operate between Motherwell and Glasgow Central

 

 

Sunday 21 April

Wakefield Westgate

Trains will divert not to call at Wakefield Westgate. Journey times will be extended by a few minutes. Change at Leeds/Doncaster for rail services to Wakefield Westgate.

 

Sunday 21 April

Winchester

Trains will divert not to call at Basingstoke, Winchester and Southampton Airport Parkway. Journey times will be extended by one hour. Rail replacement road transport will operate between Reading, Basingstoke and Winchester.

 

 Friday 19 to Monday 22 April

Newport

Rail replacement road transport will operate between Bristol Parkway and Newport

If you are flexible with your travel arrangements,  please use this information to select quieter services. If you are more restricted, please ensure you book in advance to reserve your seat.

Journey care 

If you need extra assistance to help you with your journey, we offer our JourneyCare service. 

You can pre-book this service online when you buy your tickets on our website or you can call us on  0344 811 0125 (text phone users can call 0344 811 0126). So that we can arrange everything for you, please give us at least 24 hours notice before you travel (48 hours if booking online though CrossCountry trains).

Only bring luggage you can comfortably carry

We have a limited amount of space on our trains to store luggage, so please be considerate of other passengers and only bring what you can comfortably carry. Soft bags and small cases are easier to stow. 

On our trains we have storage available:

  • Under the seat in front of you 
  • Above every seat in the overhead racks 
  • At the end of each coach for large luggage items

Catering

Please be aware that our First Class complimentary catering will be reduced to a bank holiday/weekend offer on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Please visit our First Class Food and Drink page for more details.

Major Engineering work at London Euston over Easter and Early May Bank Holiday.

Network Rail will be undertaking major engineering work on the West Coast main line which will affect Easter and Early May Bank Holiday weekend journeys.  Plan ahead for easier journeys, and travel either side of

19-22 April and 4-6 May. For more information please visit nationalrail.co.uk/westcoast

 

If you are planning on travelling between Manchester Piccadilly and Reading/South Coast on Saturday 20 - 21 April and Saturday 4 - 6 May you will be required to change trains at Birmingham New Street. Trains may be busier than normal during this time.
