Whether you’re looking for a connection to nature, a coastal adventure, or just some good grub, come along with CrossCountry as we explore the very best holiday destinations for Easter around the UK.

North East England

Whitehouse Farm Centre

For a perfect children's Easter holiday, pay a visit to Whitehouse Farm Centre near Morpeth. Spring means baby animals galore, and your little ones can get up close with lambs, chicks, and bunnies. With indoor play areas, tractor rides, and an Easter egg hunt, it’s a winning day out that’s fun and educational.

There are also three properties to choose from for a farm staycation. You get free access to the farm every day plus the opportunity to explore nearby attractions, like the beach and Newcastle city centre. Getting to Morpeth station is no trouble either, just hop on a CrossCountry train from locations such as Edinburgh Waverley and Darlington.

York Chocolate Festival

York shines in the spring, with daffodils and crocuses blanketing the grass beneath its historic buildings. During Easter, The York Chocolate Festival takes place and it’s a dream for sweet-toothed visitors, offering everything from taste trails to Easter egg hunts. There are even chocolate house-building workshops if you’re feeling constructive. And if that’s not enough, head to the Café Bar, for a medley of cocoa-themed drinks.

York is a pleasantly walkable city and with a range of cycle routes, you can explore its charms within a few days. Plus, there are several well-reviewed hotels and B&Bs around the area. Why not book a stay at the famous Golden Fleece? It’s steps from Parliament Street, where the Chocolate Festival takes place, and has a jaw-dropping amount of history within its walls.
